I work as a Labor & Delivery nurse at a Northeast inner city hospital. I have over 12 years of experience in hospital nursing and have worn many hats during my career. The profession of nursing called to me when my first child was born. I was in complete awe of my labor and delivery nurse with how she effortlessly put me at ease, clearly answered all of my questions, and kept my baby and I safe all while doing so with a smile and laughter.
She was my guardian angel during that time and she inspired me to be that for others.
Whenever I get caught up in how difficult my job is, I try to remember that wonderful nurse and everything she was to me. As a nurse, I am a work in progress, I am on my ASN --> BSN journey. This blog for me is a way to reach out to the nursing community and break away from my comfort zone. I want to inspire others to keep moving forward, in the nursing profession and in life.
